Can't sleep.

fml.

With having been around here so long, for many of us.. is the feeling of a lack of relevance and not understanding how the community is today.

It's pretty hard to reintegrate.

I just spent the last hour going through my watch list and deleting all the inactive users, it would be cool if dA had a maintain friend-list mode where it would show the deviant and the last time they posted a journal + deviation. It would probably help those of us with huge watch lists cut out the people who are not active.  Or “This person has not been active on dA since 2007, would you like to remove them as a friend”.  

It was a sad and interesting process. I removed a lot of people who where really important in my life growing up. I found an interesting commonality in those who had left, one that rung true in me also:
Journal from 2007: “Sorry I’ve not posted in a few months, I’m at college now and it’s sucking up a lot of my time”.

That is pretty much exactly what happened with  me, and I’d say  1 in 5 deviants I removed are inactive because they went to college. How can dA support and become a part of further education and support artists during their college life?  I’m not sure the main reason for attrition on the website, but I’d like to know what % of it is related to those going to higher education.  Interesting stuff.

I’m going to make a point of becoming way more active on the website.  I’ve said that twice this year, but I really feel it’s important.  I head off to London, England in a few hours for a week or so.. and I’m not sure how much access I’ll have to the interwebs. My plan however is to spend some evenings uploading images and re-learning the community.

The Toronto dA world tour was fantastic, and really got me pumped for the community. The minds at dA are really working on progressing the community. I see how some of the tools that are going to be implemented can make areas of my professional life (both in terms of  education and photography) much much easier.

It was super nice to finally meet Angelo, and I really liked Heidi, she is one of the single nicest people I’ve met. All in all, this past week has been a week of awesome and win.
